Our client, Matthew MacEwan Ph.D, first approached us with a desire to take the current model of 2-dimensional electrospun nanofibers and apply it to 3-dimensional objects. This will ultimately expand on the utility of the existing technology while optimizing the healing process to which it is applied. Our main focus will be design a system that can account for the unique contours of a given individual patient and their injury.
The polymer we are working with is FDA approved for medical applications, and because we are not changing the composition, only the deposition, this should make the transition into the new technology more smooth. This material can be used for both internal and external biomedical applications, and as such our design must take into account the potential for eventual expansion from topical to internal applications.
